YATE TOWN will be glad they don’t have to face Hungerford Town again for a while after suffering their second three-goal defeat in five days at Bulpit Lane.
It was the third meeting between the sides in a week as they drew 1-1 in the FA Trophy at Lodge Road before Hungerford won the replay 3-0 on Tuesday night.
Yate are now without a win in five league games and a defence which looked solid at the start of the season has failed to keep a clean sheet since the start of September, shipping seven goals in the last two games.
Scott Davis gave Hungerford the lead on 13 minutes when he scored from close range following a corner and Russell Benham doubled their advantage two minutes later.
Steven Cook scored from the edge of the area after 30 minutes as Hungerford held a comfortable lead at the break.
Former Team Bath striker Adie Adams scored his first goal for Yate midway through the second half but Cook wrapped things up two minutes from time.
Yate have until March 27 2010 to plot their revenge for Hungerford’s visit to Lodge Road.
Next Saturday, Yate host struggling Cinderford Town, who are managed by their former goalkeeper and ex-Almondsbury Town manager Paul Weeks.
