YATE TOWN goalkeeper Josh Dempsey is believed to be attracting the interest of a League One club.

The 21-year-old has produced a series of impressive performances for the Southern League club since being promoted from the reserves earlier this season.

He signed a contract with Yate after the 3-2 victory at Bedfont Green on Tuesday night, meaning the club would be entitled to receive a transfer fee for the talented youngster should a bigger club come calling.

The unnamed club are yet to make a formal bid to sign Dempsey but Yate are aware of their interest.

Manager Dave Mogg, who started his career at Bristol City before playing over 500 games in goal for Bath City, said: “At the end of the day, the kid’s played 13 games, but he’s got the foundations of being a very good goalkeeper and hopefully he will get an opportunity.”

“His attitude is good and I’m very pleased with him.”

Dempsey gave a commanding display in Yate’s 1-0 win over promotion-chasing Bridgwater Town last Saturday and then helped his side record a second successive win at Bedfont Green.

Is Josh Dempsey good enough to play in the Football League? Have your say below.
