FIVE youngsters from Fromeside gymnastics club have flown out to America this week to take part in a prestigious competition.
It is the seventh year in a row the Winterbourne-based club has been invited to compete in the Magical Classic against gymnasts from all over the world at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida.
After flying out on Monday, they have been training with Brown’s gymnastics club for the last three days in Alta Monte Springs before the two-day competition, which starts tomorrow.
Laoishe Maccana, 12, Lauren Elliott, 12, Jessica Summerell, 12, Amy Palmer, ten, and Saoirse Maccana, nine, will represent Fromeside in team and individual artistic gymnastic events.
Coach, Kim Whittingham, who has travelled with the club on all seven trips to Florida, said: “Because of the expense, different children go every year so it’s a good opportunity for the gymnasts.
“They’re all really excited, they’ve been counting down the days for the last two weeks.
“The girls work five or six days a week in the gym so it gives them an opportunity to get some reward for what they are doing.
“We want them to win medals but it’s important that they have a good time because it’s a once in a lifetime experience.”
