THE Year 7 girls five-a-side-team at Brimsham Green School will play in the finals of a national competition in Derby on Monday.
They have already been crowned the best team in the South West after winning the regional finals at Torbay leisure centre recently.
As a result they qualified as one of the eight teams to play in the national finals at the Derby Soccerdome, right next to Derby County’s Pride Park stadium.
The Yate-based school have had a successful year on the football pitch and a number of that side were part of the under-13 girls (Year 7 and 8) side, who also reached the last eight of a national tournament before being beaten 2-1 by Maiden Erleigh in the quarter-finals.
The Year 10 boys team also did very well in a national competition, reaching the last 32 before losing to Millfield School.
PE teacher, Kerry Hayward said: “I’m pleased with how well they have done and how well they have played. The school are very proud of them.”
