Yate Town’S recent resurgence was brought to an end by a Windsor and Eton side who look odds-on to become worthy champions of the South and West Division of the Southern League.
Michael Chennels put Windsor ahead on 11 minutes but Mark Reynolds hit the bar for Yate in an even first half.
However, the result was never in doubt after Adam Parsons’ fine strike on 49 minutes as the league leaders extended their unbeaten league run this season to an incredible 30 games.
Yate made a positive start and were unfortunate to go behind on 11 minutes as the visitors threatened for the first time with a slick counter-attack.
Gavin Smith found himself in space in the box following a pass from Michael Chennels but Josh Dempsey made a great save diving to his left to save his shot, only for Chennels to react first and smash home the rebound.
Windsor almost scored again six minutes later when Matt Seedel crossed low into the six-yard area after a strong run down the right Chennels hit the outside of the post.
Yate responded with their best move of the match. The influential Matt Hale played a cross-field pass to Jason Burt, who advanced forward and exchanged passes with Sam Duggan before his fierce drive towards goal was met sweetly on the volley by Reynolds only to crash back off the bar.
Reynolds limped off injured on 33 minutes and he proved to be a big miss as Yate were restricted to half chances with Hale’s long range effort missing the target and Scott Thomas shooting wide.
Windsor always looked dangerous though and Ryan Parsons burst towards the byline after beating Duggan with some neat footwork on the flank and crossed low into the area where Josh Dempsey made a great reaction save with his legs to deny Chennels from point blank range.
The visitors started the second half in the ascendancy and doubled their lead on 49 minutes when a corner was half cleared out to Jake Parsons, who rifled in from 25 yards.
From that moment Windsor looked in complete control and thought they went 3-0 up when Chennels headed in but he was adjudged to have fouled Dempsey in the process.
Yate found it hard to break down a defence which has only conceded three goals on their travels this season and the closest they came was a tame Edd Vahid header straight at goalkeeper Rob Bullivant following Tom Warren’s cross.
Hale volleyed over from 25 yards and at the other end Dempsey did well to block a stinging Chennels shot.
