YATE TOWN manager Dave Mogg has called on his players to “grow up and be men” in order to turn their fortunes around.

The Bluebells suffered their fourth consecutive defeat at North Leigh on Tuesday night after taking 20 points from the previous 30 available.

“We knew it was going to be difficult - even when we beat them at home 4-0 I thought they were a good side - but the two goals we gave away were defendable,” said Mogg.

“I’ve asked all the players to stick together. We’ll find out more about them individually and when things aren’t going particularly well you need to pick yourselves up and be determined to turn it around.

“What gets you out of it is sheer hard work. It’s time for the boys to grow up and be men.”

Unavailability and injuries have stretched Mogg’s squad in recent weeks and their dip in form has caused him to look out for some fresh blood.

He is hoping to land winger Matt Groves, who has just been released by Blue Square South crisis club Weymouth, and has been turned down by two other midfielders in the last week.

Yate suffered another blow when goalkeeper Josh Dempsey was carried off midway through the first half at North Leigh with whiplash after landing awkwardly, and he is a doubt to face Taunton Town on Saturday at Lodge Road (3pm).
