YATE TOWN’S miserable record in the FA Cup continued as they suffered a humiliating exit at Wessex League Division One side Ringwood Town, going down 4-1.
Two divisions separate the sides in the non-league’s football pyramid but Dan Morrell gave Ringwood the lead with a 25-yard free kick on 25 minutes.
The home side doubled their lead within 90 seconds of the restart when winger Jake Ormond cut in from the right and struck a left-footed shot into the net, but Yate responded immediately when Jake Cox scored from a free kick.
Ringwood scored again on the hour when they broke as Yate disputed a free kick given against them at the other end and Morrell went past three players before firing home.
Ormond wrapped the game up on 72 minutes when he ran into the box and shot into the corner.
Yate will come up against Richard Thompson’s Almondsbury Town tomorrow in Zamaretto Division One South & West at Lodge Road (3pm).
Almondsbury had no such scares in the FA Cup Preliminary Round as they saw off Blackfield and Langley 2-0 with first half goals from Todd Winter and Dean Griffiths.
In the next round, Almondsbury will be at home to Bristol Manor Farm, who won 4-3 at Hallen.
Almondsbury UWE suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Wootton Bassett Town.
