THE CAPPELLA Singers will be joined by Stroud’s own flamenco group, Suspiro Flamenco, in an evening of Spanish music and dance at The 3-in-1 space at St Martins Church, Horsley, this March 8.

Suspiro Flamenco features flamenco dancers Raquel Alvarez and Vicky Clifford, singers and guitarists Kotska Garcia and David Butcher, and cahon percussionist Senan Clifford. They have performed regularly in and around Stroud and have been involved in workshops for flamenco dance for schools and the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury in recent times. Dancer Vicky Clifford leads flamenco dance classes for children and adults most Saturday mornings in Stroud at The Open House hall.

The Cappella Singers will perform music selected by their musical director, Philip Colls, which features pieces from Spain of the 16th and 17th centuries and 20th century pieces from Cuba and Argentina. The evening will also feature harpist Sally Jenkins who will be playing Spanish music of the 16th century, arrangements of pieces from Falla’s ballet El sombrero de tres picos (The Three-cornered Hat), and joining The Cappella Singers to perform a traditional song from Andalucia.

The evening, entitled ‘España ¡Olé!’, starts at 7.30pm with doors open at 6.45pm so there is time for ordering drinks and tapas. Seating will be informal and there will be tapas provided by Star Anise, together with a bar featuring Spanish wine and beer. Entrance is by ticket only, and tickets can be obtained from Star Anise, Horsley Village Shop, or ordered by telephone 01453 751237 or from The Cappella Singers website.
