TV PRODUCER and nature writer Stephen Moss is visiting Gloucestershire as part of Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust’s Wild Nights series of talks this September.

Wild Nights is hosted by Hawkwood College on the outskirts of Stroud, which provides the perfect venue to this series of talks by some of the UK’s leading natural history writers.

During a career at the BBC spanning almost three decades, spent mainly at the world-famous Natural History Unit in Bristol, Stephen had the good fortune to travel to all seven of the world’s continents in search of wildlife: From Killer Whales in Patagonia to Elephants in the Okavango, and from the freezing wastes of Antarctica to the heat of the African plains.

“Yet my first love has always been the nature of Britain – the title of a series I made with Alan Titchmarsh a few years ago," said Stephen.

“I have been most fortunate to witness the extraordinary growth in enthusiasm for programmes about the UK and its wildlife. This culminated in the first series of Springwatch in 2005 of which I was the original series producer.”

Stephen has since published many books from The Bumper Book of Nature to the most recent Wild Hares and Hummingbirds: the natural history of an English Village, published in 2012.

The event takes place on Thursday, September 11, 7.30 – 9.30pm at Hawkwood College, Painswick Old Road, Stroud. Tickets are £10 and can be booked online www.gloucestershirewildlifetrust.co.uk
