GHOSTLY goings on have made a haunted house in Stonehouse the number one spooky choice for Halloween revellers later this month.
Spine chilling stories and experiences recorded over the centuries at Woodchester Mansion mean the charity’s fund raising Halloween fancy dress party is already sold out, but there is still a chance for families to visit the gothic building, that wouldn’t look out of place in any Hammer House of Horror movie, for some fancy dress fun as there will be daytime ghost walks, visits to the spooky cellar and Halloween games from 11am-4pm on both October 25 and 26.
Mysterious Woodchester Mansion, near Nympsfield, was abandoned midway through construction in 1873 but whether or not the workmen saw a ghost is lost in the mists of time. Yet something made them down tools and flee, leaving behind ladders still propped up ready for future construction which never happened.
