A FEEL-GOOD night of American roots music is on offer at Kingshill House, Dursley, on Saturday 5 April when Appalachia entertain.

The four-piece band offer their own inspired take on American roots music by mixing blues, country, jazz, ragtime, bluegrass and unique originals into a potent brew that will move you – and make you move!

Appalachia combine a perfect blend of strings, voices and musical styles with their guitars, banjo, mandolin, double bass and vocals to provide a real foot-stomping sound.

It is the third time the band has performed at Kingshill House. They have also created a stir on the Bristol and Somerset acoustic music scene.

In conjunction with the performance the band will be hosting a daytime workshop on Song Writing and Arrangement from 2.30pm – 5.00pm. During this workshop Appalachia will give an overview of the process involved in bringing self penned and cover songs to a performance level. They will discuss songwriting and some of the techniques they incorporate, arrangements and harmony theory, which is a very important component of the band. The important emphasis is that people will be invited and

encouraged to be hands on and involved in this workshop. It will be a fun time for all and participants should go home with fresh ideas. The evening performance will then in itself allow people to see this process in action.

They will be performing at 8pm, with tickets costing £8.50 in advance, £10 on the door or £18 for workshop and performance.
