BRISTOL Folk Festival reaffirms its place in the UK festival calendar, when it returns to the city over the May Bank Holiday, on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May this year.

With a move to two different indoor venues – St Georges Bristol and Bristol Folk House – festival-goers are guaranteed a “rain free” event that will feature the cream of British Folk artists!.

Some of the hottest names in the business will be stepping on the stages, including the legendary British musicians Fairport Convention, who will be headlining on the St Georges Stage on Sunday night. Hailed as the originators of British folk-rock music, Fairport Convention remain one of the most entertaining bands on the live music scene.

As mighty as Fairport, Spiers and Boden, a multi award-winning duo, will be headlining on the same stage on Saturday night and this occasion forms part of their Farewell Tour. John and Jon are also founding members of the wildly ambitious eleven piece big-band folk phenomenon, Bellowhead.

Roddy Woomble will also be honouring us with his presence and his naturally poetic writing and consistent touring have won him many thousands of fans all over the world, and he is now widely regarded as one of Scotland 's finest songwriters.

With more than 40 top class live performances over the full weekend, plus a range of other interesting diversions, including, Isambard awards, Morris dancers, Mummers, Maypoles, Ceilidhs, Workshops, a market, our ever popular posh loos - this will be a very special festival indeed and one certainly not to miss.

Joining us on Sunday will be the Colston Hall, who are hosting the 'Full English May Day Fayre', free of charge.

Another 'first' for 2014 is The Kidnap Stage; a brand new innovation that will give un-signed and emerging artists the chance to ‘kidnap’ some time in the programme to reveal their talents to an unsuspecting audience, giving them the chance to catch some exceptional fledgling musicians. Promoters and industry people attending the festival will be given the opportunity to kidnap un-signed and emerging artists for their events.........a win-win for all concerned!
