ONCE a month, on a Saturday afternoon, the upstairs hall of the United Reformed Church, Thornbury, is filled with the beautiful sounds of “Thornbury Clarinet Choir” rehearsing their extensive repertoire.

On Saturday, October 11 the Choir will be moving downstairs into the church for a concert. They will be joined by “Wooden Tubes”, a bassoon sextet who like to inject a little humour into their music! Also performing will be local classical guitarist Keith Hyett who describes his style of music as “Classical with a touch of Flamenco”. The concert promises to have something to suit everyone with a very varied programme; it will start at 7.30pm and will finish before 9.30pm.

There will be an interval during which refreshments will be available. No charge will be made for entrance but there will be a retiring collection in aid of the Great Western Air Ambulance – the church’s chosen charity for the year. The ambulance now in use is more than forty years old and really does need replacing. So put the date in your diaries and don’t miss this opportunity to hear wonderful music, support a great cause and enjoy the ambience of a lovely building.
