GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
EMERGENCY CLOSURE OF PUBLIC FOOTPATH ZST 58 (RODBOROUGH PARISH) STROUD DISTRICT
Gloucestershire County Council has made an order to temporarily close under Sections 14,15 and 16 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) part of Public Footpath ZST 58 from its junction with ZST 97 extending in a generally westerly direction for approximately 60 metres to its junction with Restricted Byway MRO 2 before continuing for a further 160 metres along MRO 2 in a westerly direction to its junction with Butterow Lane. The Public Footpath falls within the Rodborough Parish in the Stroud District within the County of Gloucestershire. The closure is necessary to safeguard the public due to an unsafe railway crossing because of very poor drainage at this location causing the railway boundary areas to be dangerous underfoot and the existing timber surface to deteriorate considerably.
The public footpath was originally closed for 21 days by notice commencing 1st December 2021. However, as the works to remedy the problem have not been completed it is necessary to close the public footpath by an Order which can authorise the closure for up to six months from the date of the original emergency Notice.
This Order comes into effect on the 22nd December 2021.
However, if the problem continues after 31 st May 2022 then it will be necessary to make an application to the Secretary of State for an extension to the closure. It is expected that the footpath will re-open on the 15th January 2022.
Alternative Routes - No Alternative Route.
