Quiz Night

MISSING from the June Diary (above) is the 1st Severn Beach Scouts Quiz Night on Saturday, June 22 at 7.30pm in Mafeking Hall. A minor hiccup has meant the publicity has missed the local magazine for June so it needs an extra boost from me.

It’s always a good event, and you can enter your team by calling Yvonne on 079 747 82218. Entry fee is £6 adults, £4.50 children. You get the famous ‘Scout’s Ploughman’s’ and the first prize is £50.

Garden Party

THE weather was perfect for the Buckingham Palace style Garden Party last Saturday. It was held in the grounds of St Peter’s Primary School which, were a lovely setting for the event. Portishead Silver Band played superbly throughout, and guests arrived with ladies in a dazzling array of dresses and big hats. Gents joined in the spirit of the day with smart blazers and many sported their medals.

Radio Bristol presenter Trevor Fry and his wife, Sue (looking particularly gorgeous) chatted to the guests and everyone marvelled at the splendid ‘posh tea. From my experience the tea was superior to the ‘real thing’ at Buck House!

The event was ‘masterminded’ by Pat Edwardes, who was very grateful for the support of the Scouts, church members and friends. £1,124 was raised for St Peter’s Church funds.
