GLOUCESTERSHIRE Music is looking for the county’s very best musicians, young and old, to get involved with their activities this September.

Although the organisation provides opportunities for players of all ages and abilities, the county’s youth music groups and adult groups are focusing on the opportunities for advanced players to join their award winning groups.

The Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra are holding open auditions and seating position on Sunday, September 11 between 10am-4pm at the Colwell Arts Centre, Derby Road, Gloucester GL1 AD.

Students who are grade 7 and above are encouraged to come along and meet the players and tutors and find out about the weekly rehearsals that take place each Thursday from 6.30pm-9pm at St Peter’s High School, Gloucester.

The award winning Gloucestershire Youth Wind Orchestra is also seeking advanced youth wind, brass and percussionists to join its 55 strong band who rehearse each Thursday at St Peters High School, Gloucester.

The Gloucestershire Symphonic Wind Orchestra will also be holding auditions throughout September for advanced adult wind, brass and percussionists. A minimum grade 7 is required. The band rehearses each Monday, from 7pm-9pm in Gloucester.

Their first rehearsal will be on Monday, September 12.

New members can come along for a trial rehearsal each Monday at the Colwell Arts Centre, Derby Road, Gloucester GL1 AD.

Cllr Paul McLain, cabinet member for children and younger people, said: “Gloucestershire Music has some great opportunities for players of all levels and all ages. “They offer opportunities to take your very first steps into learning an instrument, as well as support advanced musicians.

“Gloucestershire Music has won a number of national awards in recent years, but are always on the lookout for new musicians to join us. With 16 centres around the county, there’s sure to be something going on near to you, so get in touch.”
