Melissa McCarthy has revealed she doesn’t feel any nerves about the all-female Ghostbusters reboot.
The Bridesmaids star will reunite with director-writer Paul Feig and former co-star Kristen Wiig, along with Saturday Night Live comediennes Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon for the new adaptation of the 1984 supernatural comedy.
“No, I’m not (feeling any pressure),” Melissa said.
“I can’t be going in with a better cast and Paul Feig at the helm of it. I think it’s going to be really fun and I think people are going to love it.”
Melissa, who collaborated with Paul on her latest film Spy, will start filming the movie in June.
Paul said: “We start shooting in three weeks so it is happening, ready or not. Of course I am (feeling the pressure). We start in three weeks!”
But the director said fans of the original will not be disappointed with his version.
“We just try to write the funniest thing we can. I’ve got this amazing cast – these four women who are so funny and we just try to tell a great story and do enough nods to the original that we are making it our own,” he explained.
“It’s going to be very funny. And odds are, you’ll hear that song,” he added.
Paul also said he was so impressed with Miranda Hart’s performance in Spy that he’ll have to write her a role in Ghostbusters – and teased there could be a part for funnywoman Rebel Wilson.
“I’ll have to find somewhere for Miranda. She’s so great. There are other parts definitely,” he said.
The all-female Ghostbusters will be released in 2016.
