Ladies, if you’re dreaming of a summer spent in the company of the likes of Fran Cosgrave or Calum Best looking for love, you may need to adjust your expectations.
Love Island is back on ITV2, but not as we know it – this time, the series has done away with the celebrities in the hope of finding a real-life match made in heaven in the Mallorcan villa.
Here are the prospective Mr Rights looking for love.
Jordan Ring
Hotel groundsman
31
Newly single Jordan is the oldest of the Love Islanders and is keen to get looking for his happy ever after.
He said: “I thought it would be a good opportunity to get over her. We were together for a year. I ended it because I just couldn’t make it work and I couldn’t see a future with her, so I had to do the right thing and stop wasting each other’s time. I want to embrace the opportunity to get to Love Island and meet some girls.
Luis Morrison
Events company owner
20
This former professional footballer is a friend of Raheem Sterling’s and reckons the ladies can’t resist him.
He said: “I have cheated but I’m not proud of it. I always say I won’t when I’m in a relationship, but I know I will. I’m young. There’s so much choice, and I get so much attention! I’ve had beautiful girls come up to me and say literally, ‘Come to my car now’, and it’s hard to say no.”
Jon Clark
Builder
25
Jon rates himself as a 10 out of 10 with women, but will our Love Islanders agree?
He said: “I was seeing Jasmin from The Only Way Is Essex earlier this year. It wasn’t too serious, it was more casual. We were together for a couple of months, then she went back with her ex. It wasn’t really going anywhere between us, it was just a bit of fun. I still speak to her. She’s a really good girl, got her head screwed on. She loves a party.”
Joshua Ritchie
Joiner
20
Joshua is hoping to spend the prize money on setting up a property development company and, possibly awkwardly, has named series presenter Caroline Flack as his celebrity crush.
He said of getting ready for a night out: “I’ll go on a sunbed and to the gym during the day, and get my eyebrows threaded.”
Chris Williamson
Model/club promoter
27
Friend to the Geordie Shore cast Chris has already had a televised search for love as a former Take Me Out contestant – but while he got a date, he didn’t hit it off with her.
He said: “I know some of the Geordie Shore guys ‐ which is probably a turn‐off for girls! It’s good fun going out with them, but you do get the wrong kind of girls flocking over. They’re usually the drunkest girls in the club, which means you end up sitting with the ones who are being sick in a corner, so I try to avoid them.”
Omar Sultani
Former IT recruiter
22
Omar’s luck is already in – he’s been taking a career break after winning £12,000 on a football bet. But as he freely admits to having no morals, will he be lucky in love?
He said of his celebrity crushes: “Nicole Scherzinger or Kim Kardashian. They probably get wined and dined all the time so I’d take them somewhere a bit different, like a theme park or zoo.”
