IRREPRESSIBLY upbeat and relentlessly chipper - these are not the words you'd ever dream of associating with dour comic Jon Richardson.

The constant butt of Jimmy Carr's barbs - and almost always more than his match - will take to the stage with The Knitwit at Venue Cymru on Tuesday, September 15.

For anyone yet to familiarise themselves with this standout comic voice in the current sea of lacklustre British comics, a Youtube compilation of his razor sharp - and often darkly disturbing - retorts will not disappoint.

The painfully funny Northerner is best known as a team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Cats Countdown, host of Dave’s Ultimate Worrier and Taskmaster, upcoming sitcom Meet the Richardsons, as well as Would I Lie To You, Have I Got News For You and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.

As to be expected from the perpetual fly in the ointment - a idiom who's real world implication would no doubt horrify Richardson - The Knitwit will once again draw hilarity from the wellspring of the comic's obsessive personality.

Will the recycling be put out on the right day? Who is going to smooth over the top of the margarine? How many lights are on upstairs when everybody is downstairs?

Watch Jon pretend that these aren't his foremost concerns as he leaves home to visit Llandudno on Tuesday, September 15 at 8pm.

Tickets are £26, to book visit venuecymru.co.uk or call the box office on 01492 872000.
