A 16-YEAR-OLD Dursley boy has admitted causing horrific injuries to a father and son who refused to sell him cigarettes in their newsagents shop.

At Gloucester Crown Court the teenager, who cannot be named, pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding Karthigesu Krishnamoorthy and wounding his son Suthakar with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on October 27 last year.

Judge William Hart remanded the boy in custody until March 11 so a pre-sentence report can be prepared.

Until today the boy had denied the charges and there was to be a jury trial starting this morning (Thursday, February 14). But he changed his pleas to guilty at the last minute.

The father and son, aged 53 and 31, were attacked at their store, Kingshill News & Booze in Dursley, just after 7am.

At an earlier hearing the prosecution said the boy became violent when the shopkeepers refused to serve him cigarettes.

He stabbed Karthigesu once in the abdomen, threw a stone at Suthakar and then stabbed him a total of seven times in the abdomen and arm.

Peter Ashby, prosecuting, at an earlier magistrates' court hearing said the attack took place after a separate dispute between the boy and Karthigesu earlier on the same Saturday morning.

"This is an offence which seems to be premeditated. He had two weapons, a stone and a knife. He clearly went out with at least one of those items to cause serious harm," Mr Ashby said at that time.
