A COMBINE harvester caught alight in Slimbridge last week, requiring ten firefighters to deal with the incident.

At 5.10pm on Tuesday, July 30, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service received a report that the agricultural equipment was on fire in an open field off Moorend Lane.

Two fire engines from Dursley Community Fire Station attended the incident along with one duty officer.

The equipment was slightly damaged by the fire, which the crews spent 50 minutes extinguishing with three dry powder extinguishers and some buckets of water.

A Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue spokesman said the fire was not being treated as suspicious and was believed to be due to overheating.
