A THORNBURY opticians will be marking its first anniversary with a visit from a life-size Moshi Monster on Saturday, February 1.

Specsavers at 12 St Mary’s Parade will welcome Poppet between 11am and 12pm as they celebrate one year of business.

Customers will also be able to enter a raffle with the chance of winning one of three pairs of glasses up to the value of £99.

No birthday party would be complete without a cake which will also be on offer to those who come in to the store on the day.

Run by directors Ed Stanleigh and Vivek Lakhanpaul, who have a combined total of 30 years’ optical experience, the store has carried out 4,663 sight tests and dispensed 3,270 pairs of specs in its first year.

Khairul Rahman, optometrist at Specsavers in Thornbury, thanked all their customers who have supported them since they opened.

He said: ‘We’ve had a really successful first year and wanted to say thank you to all the customers that have supported us.

“We very much feel part of the local community and are looking forward to celebrating as well as many more years in Thornbury to come.”
