MOTORISTS are facing up to one hour of delays on the Avon Ring Road due to a burst water main.
The A4174 is said to be under four feet of water this morning with drivers reporting lengthy queues.
The road is expected to be closed in both directions between the Bromley Heath roundabout and the Hambrook traffic lights for much of today.
Bristol Water said up to 1,500 homes in areas including Winterbourne and Bradley Stoke will be without water because of the incident.
A spokesman said: “Our engineers are on site but it will take some time to isolate the main and turn off the water.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this emergency – we are working to restore supplies to normal as quickly as possible.”
The water main burst at the Bromley Heath roundabout earlier this morning.
Police are warning drivers to avoid the area and First Bus has put diversion routes in place.
