A MAN who was arrested following a tense three and a half hour stand-off with armed police on Friday has been bailed.
Gloucestershire Police revealed today that the 39-year-old man was bailed to return to a police station on October 7 pending further police inquiries.
Police also released leaflets in the area and increased the number of patrols to provide community reassurance.
The man had called the police control room at 4am on September 5 and made what officers called “graphic” threats to the police and himself, claiming to be armed with a weapon.
The police responded by sending armed police and a number of cars to a block of flats on Victoria Close in the town and residents were evacuated.
They cordoned off Long Street and Lister Street to the public while negotiations took place.
The man eventually surrendered from the block of flats he was in and was taken to an undisclosed police station.
