STAFF and friends of Winterbourne library hosted a Silver Singalong as part of South Gloucestershire's Discover Festival.
About 25 people sang folk songs, wartime favourites and songs from the shows during the event.
The idea came from local piano teacher Joan Ward while her grandchildren were enjoying a weekly Rhymetime session at the library.
She said: "I felt there was a need for a singing session for older people and singing in a big group has so many benefits."
Library staff were keen to take up the idea and now hope to make it a regular event.
Anyone interested in joining in an informal session should speak with staff at the library in Flaxpits Lane.
The Discover Festival continues until the end of October and is aimed at helping people find out more about events and activities in their community and develop new interests.
