GREEN-fingered children at Rainbow Teddies Pre-School in Thornbury have been presented two awards for their garden.
They planted a number of fantastic sunflowers as part of their learning experience at the pre-school but they also became a vital component of this year’s Thornbury in Bloom entry.
As part of the competition, the children in Rising school sessions helped to choose the bags and fill them with soil.
Then they and the Teddy Tots planted them and decided where they wanted to put them in the display.
They were given a gold award was for their cloakroom garden – a cleverly themed area with coats, hats, wellies and anything else that flowers could grow in!
The cloakroom garden looked magnificent – filled with bright coloured flowers to create a welcoming feel.
Their second award they were given was silver gilt for the sunflowers that the children had grown at the pre-school.
With funds raised throughout the year more planting ideas are already being considered for the future.
