THE demolition of the factory that used to belong to Dursley's number one employer Lister Petter Ltd got underway today - marking the beginning of the final chapter for a former giant of industry.
Cuddy Demolition and Dismantling Ltd started taking the factory apart to make way for the final phase of the Littlecombe development site.
The process will continue for another six to eight weeks but these inital stages will, for many, mark the end of an era for the town.
The video footage shows machinery beginning to demolish the front part of the building.
Cuddy Demolition have said they have every intention of being sympathetic to people around the area, causing as little noise and disruption as possible throughout the job.
