A BID to build a local crematorium for Thornbury will be presented to the public at community engagement event.
The proposed crematorium site is located on Thornbury Hill, behind Alveston Cemetery.
The proposed design, which is still in the development stage, has been prepared by local architects Lewis Foster Lewis for Thornbury Crematorium Ltd.
Russell Lewis of Lewis Foster Lewis said: “Our vision is to create a place where local people can hold cremation services in a beautiful environment, looking out across a landscape that is familiar to them."
Proposals include a tree lined entrance leading to adequate vehicle parking, a sheltered welcome walkway and Ceremonial Hall with seating for up to 400 people, a refreshment area, gardens of rest with seating and natural landscaping.
The event will take place on August 6, from 4pm to 7.30pm at Jubilee Hall, Alveston.
