A MAN has been arrested after a spate of burglaries in Chipping Sodbury.

The man, of no fixed address, was arrested last Wednesday (May 11) following a series of break-ins between May 3 and May 4. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Elderly people were believed to have been targeted in the burglaries and several residents, including one 92-year-old woman, reported waking up to find an intruder.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Steve Ives said residents should remain vigilant.

He said: “We continue to ask anyone with any information to get in touch with us. I’d also ask people to remain alert and call us about any suspicious behaviour.

“We know that people in the town do look out for each other and that’s why this sort of incident is unusual. However, it’s still important to lock up and set the alarm, if you have one, at night as well as when you go out.”
