STATIONARY traffic in and around Thornbury this lunchtime have been caused by an accident on the A38.
Three fire crews, two from Thornbury and one from Avonmouth, attended the scene along with police and ambulance following the callout at 11.34am of reports of a collision between two cars near the top of Hacket Lane.
All casualties were rescued from their vehicles before services could arrive.
The road was temporarilyclosed while firefighters worked to clear the site and make the vehicles safe, while ambulances treated those involved at the scene.
Traffic exiting Thornbury both on the Grovesend Road A38 junction and up Alveston Hill, as well as along the A38 between the two, have been brought to a standstill following the incident.
Reports on social media have suggested that the queue of traffic into Alveston is well past the leisure centre.
