YOUNG people in Thornbury are being asked this Easter to help find the missing children of a family of bunnies that visited the town.

The hunt for the 30 “Thornbunnies” invites children, and adults if they wish, to track down the family of rabbits in businesses across the town.

The Thornbury Chamber of Commerce event, which runs from April 8-22 follows the sad story of the Thornbunny family from Burrowwood, who lost their children while on a visit last month.

The search has roped in the help of Thornbury mayor Cllr Helen Harrison and police beat manager PC Sean White who have appealed for people to keep their eyes peeled and participate “to ensure a happy ending” for the story.

The family of knitted rabbits were created for the campaign by Thornbury residents Rebecca Tinney and Patricia Howarth.

In collecting a wordsearch from the Library, Gems of Thornbury, Finishing Touches and Gems, the search party can make a note of the name of each lost Thornbunny they find and submit the form to enter a raffle to win prizes.

Two other competitions will also be running alongside the search, a writing competition for primary school children and a colouring competition to decorate a portrait of the family drawn by Richard Edwards from Surroundings.

Both competitions are being launched in Thornbury Library, with schools and parents being encouraged to visit and find out more.

A Thornbunnies stall will also be in St Mary Centre on Saturday, April 15 between 10am and 1pm, with charity cupcakes on sale to raise money for Brain Tumour Support.
