YOUNG people living in Yate could be eligible for a grant to help them pursue a career.
The Will Davis Atwell Charity is offering funding to people between the ages of 16 and 21 who need to buy essential items for an apprenticeship or further/higher education course.
The money is intended to be used for items such as books, safety clothing and equipment.
Cllr Mike Drew, a trustee at the Will Davis Atwell Charity, is encouraging youngsters in the area to apply.
He explained that the money was made available in Victorian times to "help apprentices buy their tools of the trade".
"Today that means things like books and computers to assist students in their studies," he said.
If you live in the parish of Yate and would like to apply for a grant, you can obtain an application form by emailing info@yatetowncouncil.gov.uk or by telephoning 01454 866506.
The closing date for submitting an application is Saturday, 30 September.
