POLICE are investigating an attack on a Post Office in Pilning after would-be burglars drove a car into the front of the shop.

The ram-raid attempt at the Londis shop on Redwick Road happened at around 3.30am this morning, with the offenders hitting the shop twice in an attempt to gain entry.

Despite extensive damage to the front of the store, the attackers did not get into the shop and drove off.

The front window of the shop was left smashed in the attack, with damage to the brickwork beneath it and the impact of the car causing a great deal of damage to the shop counter and shelving.

The shop is however back open today with the window boarded up.

This is the second time this year that an attack has been made on the shop, having previously been ram-raided in February, with intruders stealing cigarettes.

Officers are being given CCTV footage of the incident from the shop and have asked for anyone with information about the incident to call 101 immediately and give the call handler the reference number 5217163513.
