THE M48 SEVERN Bridge is closed in one direction following a collision between a motorcycle and HGV this lunchtime.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that a motorcyclist had suffered arm, leg and pelvis injuries, which are believed to be serious. He was airlifted to Southmead Hospital.
The westbound carriageway has been closed from M4 junction 21 following the incident at 11.50am, and will be reopened later today once Avon and Somerset Police have carried out their investigations.
Diversion routes are in place, via the M4 Second Severn Crossing, and Highways England advises drivers to allow extra time and plan their journeys.
