THE trial of a 33-year-old man from Bradley Stoke who is accused of raping a woman at the Frocester Beer Festival in 2016 has been delayed until June.

Aaron White, of Wheatfield Drive, Bradley Stoke is accused of raping the woman at the event on August 26, 2016.

The prosecution allege that the woman, who is in her thirties, had pitched her tent among dozens of others at the cricket ground in Frocester for the annual village beer festival and was camping with a friend.

After dancing at the festival she was allegedly followed back to her tent and raped.

Mr White denies the allegation against him, and Tuesday was scheduled to have been the first day of his trial at Gloucester Crown Court.

A jury was sworn in at 10am, but due to other ongoing trials, the case could not commence until the afternoon.

At 2.45pm, prosecutor, Mark Worsley, told Judge Ian Lawrie QC, the delay caused difficulties for witnesses in the case, and that some who had anticipated giving their evidence today, would not be able to return the following day (Wednesday) to do so.

The judge agreed to take the trial out of the list and discharged the jury.

A new trial date was arranged for June 25 and Mr White was granted bail.
