WORK has started on a new Next mega-store in Gloucester.
The £3.4 million project will be built on Gloucester Retail Park, opposite Gloucester Quays.
This 28,000 sqft addition to the retail park will offer furniture, homeware and clothing.
Construction is scheduled to be completed in October this year with Midas Retail working on the store shell.
David Rowe, Midas Retail director, said: “We are delighted to be working with Peel Retail Developments Limited on this exciting project right in the heart of Gloucester.
“It is about delivering a high-quality scheme which will contribute to an improved retail offer for Gloucester which is great news for the city.”
Additionally, the project includes refurbishment of the adjacent canal footpath, resurfacing the existing car park which surrounds the site and landscaping and drainage works.
Midas Retail currently handles businesses such as Morrisons, Waitrose and John Lewis and aims to become the contractor of choice by establishing long-term relationships with clients.
