AN ACCIDENT involving a lorry on the M5 motorway in South Gloucestershire is causing severe delays.

The exit slip road at junction 18 for the M49/A4 is closed, with traffic backing up onto the main carriageway.
Highways England traffic officers and a recovery unit are at the scene after the lorry shed its load on the M5, junction 18 northbound exit slip road to A4 Portway.
The slip road remains closed and is likely to remain into the evening peak traffic times.

Highways England tweeted: "A vehicle carrying a load of rolled steel has collided with the barrier, with some of the load across the carriageway.
"As these weigh approx. 10 tonnes each this is expected to take some time to clear - please be aware if heading that way."
Drivers are being advised to allow extra travel time and consider other ways to access.
