CARMINA, an original and powerful band drawing on traditional and contemporary Celtic music, jazz, folk and rock, will be appearing at Under-the-Edge Arts in Wotton this Saturday.

The Bristol-based band features established professional musicians of the highest calibre, including singer and songwriter Pippa Marland, who is also an accomplished saxophonist.

She and masterful arranger/songwriter Rob King (acoustic guitar, mandola, bodhrán) are the founders of Carmina, and compose the songs which cross musical boundaries and blend styles into an original sound.

Pippa and Rob are joined for this gig by core Carmina band member Paul Bradley. Paul is a maverick guitar virtuoso, originally from Belfast and currently living in Bristol (he is also known as a member of the band 'Three Cane Whale'). He is also a singer, with a voice which complements Pippa's own lead vocals.

Carmina have recently recorded a new album, entitled Landmarks, at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios. This features their own core band of world-class players, some of the best UK jazz and folk musicians, and two choirs.

See Carmina at Under-the-Edge Arts, Chipping Hall, The Chipping, Wotton-under-Edge, GL12 7AD on Saturday, June 23.

Music begins at 8pm. Tickets £13.50/£11.50 concessions.

Ticket reservations from Tickets can also be purchased at 'Fish Out Of Water' Gallery, Long Street, Wotton-under-Edge
