PLANS are due to be put forward for a new animal feed mill to be built in Alveston that will service farms in the wider area.

The proposed development for Merry Heaven Farm has been put forward by retail firm Mole Valley Farmers, agents David James and Partners and land owner Chris Heal would see a facility built at the farm, that they claim would not be visible to Thornbury.

Speaking before Thornbury Town Council’s town development committee on Tuesday, July 3, the three parties said they wanted to get the thoughts of the council and residents before taking the plans forward.

The farm, which lies off the A38 in Alveston, currently contains a similar mill, but plans for a new and improved facility would see the site able to cater for more farms in the area. It would be steam-powered and so no water would be discharged from the site.

It is hoped that, subject to a successful planning application, that they will break ground by the end of the year.
