POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a quantity of metal was stolen from a warehouse in Thornbury.
The aluminium bronze cylinders, which have the appearance of gold, were taken from the premises on Thornbury Industrial Estate sometime between 5pm on July 5 and 7.30am on July 6.
It would’ve taken at least two people to move the metal, which have been described as ‘very heavy’ and are used to make specialist components but useless to those not in that industry.
Officers believe those responsible may have used the footpath leading to Streamleaze or the skate park behind Thornbury Leisure Centre.
An appeal has been issued for anyone who may have seen the offenders carrying the heavy metal or acting suspiciously in the area.
Police would also like to hear from anyone in the scrap metal business if they have been offered the metal to buy.
Increased police patrols are being conducted in the area following the theft.
Anyone with information should call 101 and quote reference 5218149600.
