OVER 1,000 visitors enjoyed a sunny afternoon of music and beer at the Millwood Cam Beer Festival at the weekend.

Now in its eighth year, the Cam Sports Club fundraising event was attended by 1,150 people.

Thanks to an army of volunteers, a range of 45 different beers from across the country were served, as well as 20 ciders, wine and prosecco, on Saturday, from 4pm to 11pm.

Musical entertainment was provided by Alex Chapman, The First Raitt Band, Broken Ring and Close to the Edge, with an impromptu fly past by three hot air balloons during the afternoon and a charity "brave the shave" in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support.

Cam Sports Club treasurer James Darby said the event was the ‘best yet’.

“It was brilliant,” he said.

“It was a very enjoyable and successful event, helped by the fantastic weather.

“The committee members have been brilliant. They all worked really hard, from setting up to clearing up.

"And we had a lot of fantastic helpers too, volunteering in the bar, the entrance tent and on the BBQ.

"We'd also like to thank all the local businesses who sponsored barrels at the event and especially our main sponsor, Millwood Spar, as all their contributions boost the financial success of the event."

Funds raised from the event will go towards the running costs of the sports club.
