WILTSHIRE residents are being asked to have their say in plans to redraw political boundaries in the county.

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE), is calling constituents' help to redraw the Wiltshire Council boundaries.

A decision to review the boundaries was made after an electoral review of the council area, and the changes were recommended to provide electoral equality for voters during council elections, whilst still attempting to represent the interests and identities of the local communities.

The chair of the commission urged residents to contribute to the review, along with local organisations, and welcomed feedback on any aspect of the Council divisions that are already in place.

Commission chair Professor Colin Mellors said: “If you have a view about which communities or neighbourhoods should be part of the council division, then we want to hear from you.

“And if you think a road, river or railway makes for a strong boundary between communities in your part of Wiltshire, then this consultation is for you. Your views will make a difference.”

Constituents have until November 5 to put forward their views, with a further opportunity to provide feedback available in February 2019 once the draft recommendations are published.

Although the number of councillors will remain the same, 98 throughout the county, and will have roughly the same number of electorates, whilst respecting pre-existing community identities.
