The winner of Thornbury's mini Gromit hunt has been announced.

Organised by Thornbury Chamber of Commerce, several small Gromit figurines were hidden in businesses around the town.

The winner of the prize draw was Joby Amesbury, 10 from Thornbury.

He wins the mini Gromit he chose as his favourite, 007 Diamonds are Forever designed by Penny Skinner from Bonds of Thornbury.

Joby also wins £25 of Thornbury Vouchers to spend in local participating shops.

The rest of the mini Gromits are being sold and all the money raised will be donated to the Grand Appeal charity which supports Bristol Children's Hospital.

Rowena Moncrieffe, chairman of Thornbury Chamber of Commerce said: "It it was nice to see so many people around the town throughout the summer obviously enjoying both the main Gromit trail but also taking part in our very own Gromit hunt."

The mini Gromits were all decorated by local people and then voted on my members of the public.

In first place was Mr Gromit – Gems of Thornbury, with Wings – Papilio at Heritage coming second. Third was 007 Diamonds are Forever – Bonds of Thornbury, with Daisy – The Carnival Committee (Displayed in Riddifords) voted fourth.

Thornbury's Gromit, Honeysuckle Rose, has joined the rest of the sculptures at Cribbs Causeway before they are auctioned off.

You can still buy a memento of Honeysuckle Rose. Notebooks, fridge magnets and badges are available at News 4 U in St Mary Centre until the end of September. All profits go to the Grand Appeal.
