A road in Yate has now finally got a new date for when essential resurfacing will be taking place.

Sundridge Park, near Yate Shopping Centre, was scheduled for maintenance in late July/August, however the intense heat over the summer months meant that the work was unable to be carried out.

On that occasion work went ahead to resurface Bowling Hill in Chipping Sodbury instead.

Now though, after months of having a solar-powered announcement board on the road, new dates have been announced.

Sundridge Park will now have maintenance works between Monday, October 29 until Tuesday, November 6th later this year.

A letter from South Glos Council to residents has revealed that the work will be 'disruptive' whilst also confirming that the road will be closed during the work.

"The works will involve the planing off of the existing surface of the carriageway and the laying of a new surface," it read.

"The work will start at 8.00am and remain in place until
approximately 5.00pm. These works will create a significant amount of noise."

A statement from the council also revealed that the work that runs into the term time will be taking place between 9:30am and 3pm and that there shouldn't be that many issues outside of that.

This will be to minimise the impact the closed roads will have on the nearby schools.

There are three schools on the road, Yate Academy, St Paul's and Woodlands Primary, all of which may be affected by the maintenance.

South Glos also revealed that there will be diversions in place during the works.
