CHRIST the King Catholic Primary School has celebrated its fiftieth anniversary.
On Friday, September 28 1968, the foundation stone was laid by members of Christ the King Parish.
The school invited past pupils, families and staff to mark the milestone in the school’s history. During the day children celebrated Mass with the Parish, followed by a 50th anniversary cake cut by Mrs Cullimore, the longest serving member of staff with pupils Isabelle and Chloe who were celebrating their birthdays.
The children also had a special school lunch of fish and chips and a bonnet parade.
Headteacher Mrs Mainwaring said: “Wow! What an amazing day to mark this special milestone, it was wonderful to see families returning to our family school and sharing stories from the past.”
Christ the King school is holding open days for the September 2019 intake.
These will be held on Thursday, October 11 from 4.30-7.30pm, Tuesday, October 23 from 9.30-11.30am and Wednesday, November 21, from 9.30-11.30am.
