A 17-year-old girl from Yate has cut off nearly 16 inches of hair to donate to charity, whilst also raising nearly £1000 in the process.

Chloe Hitchings, a student at Chipping Sodbury School, took the brave decision to alter her hairstyle to donate it to the Little Princess Trust last month.

The trust is a charity in the United Kingdom which supplies and funds high quality wigs made of real hair to children who have hair loss as a result of cancer treatment or other illnesses.

It is not the first time that the young lady has had this done however, as she made a promise to do it again after her last ‘trim’ in 2015.

There was also a fundraising page set up to try and raise money for the event, with half the total going toward the Grand Appeal Charity and the other half contributing towards the British Heart Foundation.

The page has since closed, but the total raised was a massive £965.

Her mother Sarah Hitchings admitted that the whole family was again filled with pride at what her daughter had been able to achieve.

“We are yet again very proud of her for doing this, she is an inspiration to us all,” she said.
