A MAN has been caught speeding at more than 130mph on the M4.
The incident happened on Thursday, October 18 between junctions 15 and 16.
Pc Will Ayres, of the Roads Policing Unit, was carrying out routine patrols late in the evening when he spotted a BMW being driven at high speed.
The speed recorded on PC Ayres’ speed gun was an astonishing 131mph, 61mph over the speed limit.
The 24-year-old, from Wales, was stopped near Swindon and has been reported to court for speeding.
PC Ayres said: “The speed at which this man was driving at a relatively busy time of the evening is completely unacceptable.
“His actions were both selfish and disgraceful – despite putting his own life at risk, he risked the lives of other motorists with such dangerous driving.
“Nothing is ever worth driving at this speed – this was 61mph over the speed limit.
"When you get behind the wheel of a car, no matter how much of a rush you may be in to get to your destination, please think about your actions and the consequences they may have before it is too late.”
