FOREST GREEN boss Mark Cooper insists his side can cause an FA Cup upset and beat League One strugglers Oxford United.

Rovers will travel to the Kassam Stadium over the weekend of November 9-12, with the winners receiving £36,000 in prize money.

Oxford beat Ady Pennock's Forest Green Rovers to reach the FA Cup third round back in 2015 thanks to Kemar Roofe's second-half winner.

“Oxford are a big League One club and it gives us an opportunity to test ourselves, so I’m looking forward to it, it’s a great draw for us,” said Cooper.

“Whatever we were going to be given, we were given; you can’t pick and choose."

Karl Robinson's Oxford  are 22nd in League One with 10 points from 14 games.

Cooper added: “We’ll look at it as a real challenge and a game we think we can win.

“The players won’t even be thinking about it at the moment, we’ve got a lot of league games to come in between then and now,”

“When it comes to playing Oxford, we’ll approach it in the same way as we do every game.

“We’ll prepare in the same way and we’ll go all out to win it.

“Everyone will expect Oxford to win, they are at home, it’s a big club with a really good manager and some really good players.”

Rovers' chief is relishing the opportunity for his side to pit their wits against the League One outfit.

He said: “It gives us an opportunity to test ourselves and our players to test themselves against League One opposition and see where they are.

“Everybody would say, if they were telling the truth, that they would want to get through to the third round and get Manchester United away, go out and then concentrate on the league."
