Yate Heritage Centre hosted a very special event at the weekend, as the area readies itself for 'Rememberance Sunday' next week.

The '2018 Arimistice Centenary Events' took place on the green outside the centre as dozens of actors and story tellers all in costume rolled out to educate people free of charge.

People were also able to sit in some war cars, jeeps and trucks as a lot of different stuff took place between 10.30am and 4.30pm.

In the centre itself, people told stories to groups about the war and what it was like living through the times if you were a resident of the Yate/Chipping Sodbury area.

The centre has been running an exhibition that tells the stories about those in WW1 since October 25, that is expected to finish on December 11.

There was also an opportunity for some people to make donations towards the Royal British Legion charity at the events.

Around 600 people attended the event throughout the day.
