Avon Fire and Rescue Service are looking for on-call firefighters
Avon Fire and Rescue Service are currently recruiting on-call firefighters.
They are looking for people who live less than five minutes away from their nearest on-call fire station. This includes Thornbury and Yate.
On-call firefighters make up 30 per cent of their fire crews. They carry an alerter and let the fire station know when they’re available to respond to emergency calls.
Just like full-time firefighters they are trained to deal with everything from extinguishing
burning buildings to providing first aid.
On-call firefighters are paid an annual retainer and call-out fees.
